About SEO Horizon
I am Manas Chowdhury, Founder of SEO Horizon: a digital enthusiast and successful netpreneur from Kolkata (City of Joy), India. Here at SEO Horizon I write about Internet Marketing, SEO, Blogging, Social Media, E-commerce, Mobile Marketing , Growth Hacking and Netpreneurship.
I am passionate about all things digital including content, search, mobile, social and local. I Love to live with the evolution of internet and technology. Here at SEO Horizon, I would try to share "all things possible" with you based on my accumulated knowledge on SEO and Internet Marketing, that you need to grow your business online and take it to the next level.
I’m completely self taught and would consider myself an expert in:
- Internet Marketing
- Inbound Marketing
I am not bad with HTML, CSS, PHP edits though, but I would put myself in the beginner bracket.
A Small History....
I bought the domain SEOHorizon.com on November 6, 2008 with my own credit card from GoDaddy just for the sake of applying theoretical stuffs in practical and see the results. I used Hostgator as my hosting provider.
Actually there is a small story behind purchasing and running my own domain and it all started back in August, 2004 when I just completed my Post Graduation in Economics from University of Kalyani. As you know everybody wants to be self dependent at this stage and wants to at least earn their pocket monies. I wasn’t an exception too. I borrow some money from my father (he was a Govt. Employee and retired at that time). I had opened a bank account with ICICI and a share trading account with ShareKhan with that money and started trading shares online.
Since I had specialization in Financial Economics I had the interest on Share and Forex trading from my university life. I started with share trading first and I was able to generate at least Rupees 2,000 per month out of it. Later I started Forex trading with FXCM and anyhow I started to earn Rupees 3,500 – 5,000 ($50 - $100 USD) per month. I was happy, but remained stressed though because of the frequent ups and downs and risky nature of the financial market.
Then I started searching for legitimate ways to make money online and I realized that in order to be successful with online money making; I should be:
(a) well versed with SEO/Internet Marketing/PPC (right now SMM, Growth Hacking & Inbound Marketing)
(b) must have my own domain and hosting
(c) know Affiliate Marketing initially.
(d) must have my own web product, service or SaaS application
So without wasting any time I started learning about SEO and Affiliate Marketing, mostly from internet articles and blogs... needless to say whose blogs as there were only few SEO Gurus at that time compared to tons of self proclaimed SEO Gurus now. I mostly followed and learned from Danny Sullivan, Aaron Wall, Bruce Clay, Guy Kawasaki, Seth Godin, Rand Fishkin' s blog. Lately I added Neil Patel and Brian Dean in my list.
Later I found a free SEO Software WebCEO, and completed Professional Internet Marketing certification course from WebCEO University. At that time I made up mind that I will continue with SEO/Internet Marketing profession but only one thing is holding me back, practical knowledge. I came to know about Commission Junction and without wasting a second got an account with them and started promoting some affiliate offers on Google Adwords. At that time Google Adwords Policies were not that strict for Affiliate Marketers. Luckily, I generated $95 with Adwords with $40 spent on Adwords, with a ROI of 137%, not bad for a newbie! My confidence grew up and I stared looking for jobs on Naukri.com and Monster.com .... In the mean time 12 months or so had been passed learning SEO, PPC etc. and doing affiliate marketing practically.
On March, 2006 I got a job offer from Smartdevil Inc., Monreal, Quebec, Canada as a SEO Executive with a salary of $375 (excluding incentives). The first thing my Manager provided me is access to Ebrary (now Proquest) and Aaron Wall’s SEO Book and allotted me 6 months of time to get my theoretical knowledge clear and by-the-by getting a hands on training on practical SEO, Blogging, Email Outreach Campaigns, PPC etc. Since SEO and related things were not that new to me I completed my training within just 3 months and as a result I got a salary hike of $125. And then I started providing SEO Services and Consultation to clients on behalf of my employer. While my training period I got it pretty clear that if I have to be successful with SEO Internet Marketing, I must have my own domain, hosting and website/app and the journey begins ....
I worked with some mid-level IT companies in 2009 as a Team Leader but my zeal to do something of my own forced me to resign those jobs. I started SEO Online Marketing consultation and got a good response and money out of it. And I got SEO Horizon registered in 2010 and continued providing SEO Services for clients till February.
In 2010 I started a CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service) venture ToSMS; made it a profit making business and exited successfully in end 2016. Read about the PR at: http://www.prnewswire.co.in/news-releases/msg91-announces-acquisition-of-tosms-595778501.html
This venture kept me so busy that I was sidelined from my digital marketing consultancy service.
SEO Horizon was (and still is) largely a one-man show. Yes, I have a small team that helps me with this and that. But I still do the writing, planning, strategy etc...and even quite a bit of the outreach.
Despite the fact that I’m a one-man show I consistently launched small online businesses on various niches like weight loss, games, health & wellness, triathlon training etc. and made them profitable.
The only bad I did is not giving enough time and to blog consistently on https://www.seohorizon.com ; as I have been occupied with other priorities. And naturally https://www.seohorizon.com is lagging behind in SERP’s :) I started SEO when it was at nascent stage in India but time factor and survival competition hold me back from frequent blogging ... huh! Better late than never. But don’t worry friends I will try to make it up and make SEO Horizon a result oriented destination for your online success! No matter where you’re at right now, you CAN succeed with white hat SEO. Seriously!
So if you’re already having success with SEO - and want to take your business to the next level - you totally can! And if you’ve struggled with SEO in the past, no worries. You can quickly (and I mean quickly) turn things around.
The best part?
You don't need a team of people or special relationships to succeed with SEO. Yes, connections and a team of people help. But they’re definitely not required.
